We've also got lots of helpful gardening information for you to take in as well; garden maintenance is a real all-year round job, and as the seasons change there is usually something in the garden Greenleaf Garden Services can help you with. We're sure you'll find our information on raised beds and compost heaps interesting too!

Greenleaf Garden Services participate in the Landscape Juice Voluntary Customer Charter, a quality assurance commitment to our customers. We're also on the recommended installers list for The Greenhouse People, the country's leading supplier of greenhouses and the man behind Greenleaf Garden Services, Martin Fiddes, is a Norfolk County Council and Garden Organic - the UK's leading organic gardening movement - qualified Master Composter.

No matter which of the many gardening services below you decide to use us for, some things are always the same; we're friendly, reliable, ultra-professional and we''ll always discuss exactly what you want us to do before we start. Greenleaf Garden Services will always compost as much of the green waste produced - remember we are Master Composter-qualified so can manage your compost heap or bins - but where this is not practical, we will use the council recycling centres to ensure the material can be composted and used again.

Above all, we always remember that it's YOUR garden and although we've plenty of experience and expertise (as you can see below) to offer, we'll do the job how you want it done!

We can arrange to visit weekly, fortnightly, monthly - what ever suits you - to regularly maintain your garden and and keep it looking spectacular all the time, or perhaps you only need us for special one-off garden projects; either way, we’ve a service to suit and don’t forget we have a winter work programme too - details below!

Our lawncare service can be tailored to meet your needs and budget. We can provide you with a full lawn care programme including moss removal, scarifying, aerating, feeding, weedkilling and topdressing right down to simply mowing the grass and trimming the lawn edges. Quality Rolawn turf, seed and soil is our preference.

Cutting back out-of-control coniferous hedges can be really hard work so let us do the job for you! We’ll also regularly clip and shape evergreen hedges to allow light, air and water through; topiary is another service we offer and we’ll cut and trim hedges of all types at the correct time of year and to your specification. We'll also tackle light tree work too!

From careful rose and fruit tree pruning to a 'short back and sides' for fast-growing shrubs, we'll take care of all your garden pruning needs - and at the appropriate time of year too. Our experience of working with fruit trees proves very popular with customers who have apple, pear, cherries and plum trees in need of some TLC to start cropping again!

Our extensive experience in this area allows us to identify which pests are munching your prized garden plants. From Ants to Weevils, we'll let you know the problem and deal with it - and we've got a whole host of completely natural organic pest control solutions too, ideal if you've got children or pets using the garden.

We're one of the few - if any - garden maintenance businesses to have a Master Composter at the helm and as a result, we can advise and help you start home composting or correct any problems you may have with an existing heap. Home composting will provide you with a FREE source of valuable garden compost and we'll show you how!

None of us are getting any younger and Raised Beds provide a comfortable working height for gardening. We can both supply and assemble raised beds - great for patio gardening and also for growing vegetables - and plant them up for you too, meaning you can continue to enjoy gardening even when your back says stop!

Keeping your garden and plants watered during the summer months can be a real challenge but with our vast experience of installing porous hoses, micro irrigation kits, water butts to collect rainwater and lots more, your plants will never go thirsty again. If it's easy watering you're after in beds, borders and raised beds, look no further!

As professional gardeners, we know that looking after a garden is an all year round task. During the winter months we prune shrubs and fruit trees, undertake tree work, mulch and manure beds, divide perennials, clean gutters, repair and replace fence panels, re-roof and paint sheds, protect vulnerable plants and lots more!

Our knowledge of organic gardening techniques allows us to develop nature gardens which attract bees, birds, frogs and toads and plenty of other beneficial creatures and insects. These natural gardens are full of garden wildlife and are particularly popular in care and residential homes where the residents enjoy seeing plenty of birds and other garden insects.

We're big on vegetable growing and an allotment can be rewarding but very hard work, especially if you take over a neglected plot. We're here to help with the initial clear up and also practical allotment growing help - even another pair of hands for those jobs so much easier with two!

Grow your own is soaring in popularity as supermarket prices rise and people get a taste of just how good home grown vegetables are. We'll install raised beds or turn over part of your garden to a vegetable patch to get you growing your own, and we'll continue to look after the plot and offer practical help from seed sowing right through to harvest.

It’s impossible to underestimate just how important the right soil is to your plants and our ‘Soil Health Checks’ prove a very popular option with our customers. We’ll check the soil ph levels for you along with the nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium (NPK) and apply the appropriate fertilisers and organic matter to provide your plants with the best possible growing conditions.

If you’ve always wanted a new greenhouse but the thought of constructing it has put you off - or even renovating an old one seems a job too far - we’re here to help! Recommended fitters for The Greenhouse People, we’ll erect a new greenhouse or give your existing one a good wash and scrub up and undertake regular greenhouse maintenance to keep it in top condition.

A garden make-over when your house is up for sale will almost certainly increase the value of your property and if you've just moved, perhaps your new garden is in desperate need of some attention. We'll also look after second home gardens - a weight off your mind - and we can maintain the plot around your caravan home too; ideal if you rent it out or just want to come on holiday to relax!

As you can see from the list of garden services above, we take our gardening very seriously but the main reason Greenleaf Garden Services are here is because we love gardening! Mowing a lawn gives us just as much satisfaction as tackling some of the more technical horticultural tasks and garden services so please don't worry if that's all you want us to do - we're more than happy to do so. And then you can rest safe in the knowledge that if you do require anything else done in the garden at some stage, you won't have to go elsewhere!

In the unlikely event that you need something doing in the garden that doesn't appear in our list of garden services above, just contact us by e-mail or give us a call and we'll see if we can help. We probably can and if you're looking for a reliable and knowledgeable gardener in Lowestoft, Southwold or Great Yarmouth - you've found one!

Gardening in winter might not be at the forefront of all gardeners’ minds but those who want to get a head start in spring or make some alterations to their garden layout will be well aware of the benefits winter gardening can bring.

Greenleaf Garden Services are an all year round gardening services provider and we’ve created the following list of winter gardening tasks which, if you want your garden to look its best the next year and to keep on top of maintenance, really should be tackled in the winter.

First up is leaf clearing and although this may appear a purely cosmetic task, there’s more to leaves that you might think. Leaf mould is a fantastic mulching and soil conditioning material and is an excellent – and environmentally friendly alternative - to peat for use in potting mixes. Leaf mould can be used on the lawn too and this wonderful soil improver is free! Leaving leaves lying around the garden also has disadvantages; pests find a winter shelter – the underside of a leaf makes a great slug egg-laying site – grass can be damaged by the lack of light afforded by a covering of leaves and they can prove a safety risk when they become wet and pulped. Not only will Greenleaf Garden Services clear up your leaves but we will – thanks to our Master Composter training – turn them (albeit slowly!) into leaf mould for use in your garden.

Although it won’t need the close mowing attention it gets during the rest of the year, lawncare and grass cutting is still a job which can be done occasionally in the winter. Most of the common UK grass varieties will grow when the temperatures is 7 degrees C or above and keeping this growth in check during the winter means the first few cuts of the spring don’t result in yellow lawns, shocked grass and piles of clippings. Leaves should also be regularly removed from lawns to prevent yellowing of the grass and Greenleaf Garden Services are well aware that October and November are key periods in the lawn care calendar as that’s when scarifying, aerating, turfing and autumn feeding all take place.

Every gardener likes the sound of free plants and with potted specimens sometimes proving costly, winter is the time to boost your stock by dividing perennial plants. Greenleaf Garden Services will undertake this late autumn/winter job, reducing the size of large clumps which show signs of taking over the border and the sections removed make perfect smaller plants for other areas of the garden. Plants that don’t react well to division as a means of propagation can be reproduced by taking root cuttings and again, this is a garden task we can help with.

Winter is also the time for moving and planting trees and shrubs with November the ideal month. That’s because the soil is still relatively warm from the summer and autumn, it hasn’t been frosted and it’s unlikely to be waterlogged. Trees and shrubs can be planted or moved anytime between November and March as long as the soil is not frozen or waterlogged but early planting is something we at Greenleaf Garden Services advocate as it gives the plants a chance to establish fully and roots to bed in before growth starts in late winter and early spring.

But there’s no point in spending time dividing perennials and planting new shrubs and trees in the garden if the soil isn’t good enough or needs a health boost – and there really is no better time of year to work on your soil than winter. Greenleaf Garden Services fully understand the importance of a good, healthy soil and if you want your garden to look its best in spring and summer, then winter soil improving is an absolute must. We will spread organic matter in its various forms over the bare soil in the early part of the winter – often a mucky, wet job – and allow earthworms and the weather (in the form of frosts and winter rain) to break down the material and draw the matter down into the soil. Whatever is left in late winter we will dig in and turn over to create a humus-rich soil which will hold nutrients and moisture but let excess water drain, giving your plants every chance of looking spectacular in spring and summer!

Fruit tree pruning is another winter job Greenleaf Garden Services will undertake for you but although apples and pears are ready for pruning, stone fruit (including cherries, plums and damsons) should be left until late spring to reduce the threat of silverleaf disease. We can renovate older neglected trees and hopefully persuade them to bear fruit again and trees which have outgrown their space can be reduced in height and span to bring more light and air into the canopy and your garden. We’ll also take on light tree work, reduce the height of conifers and even remove unwanted hedges – all while the tree is dormant.

Seasonal pruning of shrubs and fruit bushes is another task for the winter and if you are lucky enough to have currant bushes or cane fruit, Greenleaf Garden Services will prune them ready for a bumper crop the next year! Many deciduous shrubs are best pruned and shaped in the winter and we will also look out for and remove damaged and diseased wood which could affect the health of the plant.

If you have a greenhouse or cold frame in the garden then winter is the ideal time to carry out greenhouse maintenance. If you don’t have a greenhouse but are thinking of getting one then winter is again a perfect time to install one, a task Greenleaf Garden Services – as recommended fitters for The Greenhouse People – will happily carry out. Replacing broken panes & repairing and re-sealing gaps will help keep the wind and rain out and heat in and fitting up bubble insulation for the winter could cut your heating costs by up to 50%! Our greenhouse maintenance programmes also include cleaning the glass for maximum light transmission (essential in the winter months), installing and setting up heaters, cleaning and disinfecting the inside to remove overwintering pests and diseases, replacing door wheels and checking vents and windows. It’s often windy in the winter so the better condition your greenhouse is in, the more chance it has of coming through unscathed.

If you’ve recently moved into a new property or just not had any time to devote to the garden, then the winter is the ideal time to set Greenleaf Garden Services to work on clearing the garden. From strimming and clearing overgrown lawned areas to creating new beds, edging and defining existing borders, cutting back overgrown shrubs and fruit trees, we can give you a garden ready to face spring. It’s amazing what plants and treasures you can uncover in an overgrown garden and we will sympathetically and carefully work through the jungle, saving and re-planting shrubs along with removing all the debris, composting and recycling it wherever possible.

The good old garden shed is an essential piece of garden storage equipment but if it’s not maintained properly, leaks can appear and the life of the shed can be greatly reduced. It’s the same story with fence panels and the gusty winter winds will often highlight a weakness, leading to damaged panels and possible insurance claims, not to mention potential damage to trellised and climbing plants. Greenleaf Garden Services are happy to re-felt shed roofs, repair damaged timber, seal windows, repair clasps and bolts and repaint or stain sheds throughout the winter months along with repairing or replacing fence panels, keeping your garden infrastructure sound and looking good.

Not the most glamorous of garden tasks but when you rely on gutters to replenish your garden water butts, keeping them clean is a must. Capturing the heavy winter rainfall tops up water butts for spring so Greenleaf Garden Services use the winter to offer a gutter cleaning service when we clean gutters, repair brackets and leaks, clean and replace filters and install water butts, filled by way of downpipe rain traps. We can even take a look at your existing water butts and rainwater collection set-up and suggest and implement improvements.

Pretty as it may look, snow and ice in the garden and around your property are a danger. Plants, trees, greenhouses and conservatories can all be damaged by heavy snowfall and of course slipping over on an icy garden path or driveway isn’t fun at all. As part of our wide range of garden services, we will respond to your call to treat icy paths and clear snow from driveways, allowing you to go about your daily life. We will also remove snow from greenhouses and other garden structures along with plants and trees which could suffer broken branches.

If you’ve been thinking of installing raised beds in your garden or creating a vegetable patch or plot then the winter is the ideal time to act. We can supply and install quality raised beds to suit every budget and carry out the backbreaking work of filling them too – helping to ensure your vegetable growing can start in earnest come spring. Perhaps you’ve been thinking of a garden arch covered with climbing plants or even a gazebo or pergola; whatever structural changes you want to make to your garden winter is the time and we will be on hand to help.
